The Butterfly House/St. Louis

The Butterfly House

Over New Year's weekend the three of us took a 5 day trip to St. Louis, to do some holiday celebrating with the Appelbaum side of the family. We arrived on Thursday and our first stop was The Butterfly House in West St. Louis County. We visited there with Mia's Aunt Lisa, Cousin Nick and friend Nicole. Dan has been to the Butterfly House before but this was my first trip as well as Mia's. It is really amazing to see some many beautiful species of butterflies in one small indoor area. I think you would have to travel someplace pretty exotic to see most of them.
My favorite butterfly I saw was the one listed above. The paper kite butterfly (below) was the one seen most often and easiest to photograph. One even landed on Nicole cell phone. That was pretty amazing.

We had a great time visiting the butterfly house and hope to go again sometime when Mia is older. I think she was fascinated by all the colorful plants and beautiful butterflies. But I think she will enjoy it even more in a few years.
